Cathie Armour
Commissioner
Australian Securities and Investments Commission


Cathie Armour's appointment as Commissioner commenced on 3 June 2013 and is for a four-year term.

Cathie has 18 years experience in legal counsel leadership roles in international financial institutions. Most recently, she was General Counsel for Macquarie Capital and an Executive Director of Macquarie Group, advising on equity, debt and private capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and financial investment transactions. She has also held senior compliance and operational risk positions at Macquarie Capital and at JP Morgan in Australia. Before she joined ASIC, Cathie was also a member of the ASX Tribunal.

Cathie previously worked in private legal practice for the forerunners of the firms King & Wood Mallesons and Allens in Sydney and for Milbank,Tweed,Hadley & McCloy in New York.

Seth Merrin

Calissa Aldridge

Calissa Aldridge is senior manager of ASIC's market structure unit. Calissa led the development and implementation of the regulatory framework to support the introduction of exchange competition in Australia, the 2012 market structure reforms and, more recently, ASIC's dark liquidity taskforce.

Prior to joining ASIC, Calissa was at the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in London working on the integration of the RBS and ABN Amro businesses and on implementation of the European Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID). While in London, Calissa also worked with data vendor, Markit, and spent a number of years working on MiFID at the UK Financial Services Authority (now the Financial Conduct Authority). Calissa commenced her career at the Australian Commonwealth Treasury, working in a range of areas including with the Foreign Investment Review Board.

Richard Atkins
Senior Manager, Trade Execution and Sales

Richard Atkins is Senior Manager, Trade Execution and Sales at the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). Richard is responsible for ASX's cash market including trading product and trading platform development and sales. Richard joined ASX in 2012 after a number of years running a consultancy business in London assisting major investment banks and industry associations in dealing with and providing thought leadership on developing market structure.

Richard previously spent 14 years with London Stock Exchange Group and was latterly responsibility for the management and development of the Group's cash market trading products and trading platform. During his time with LSE, Richard also held senior strategic, regulatory and operational roles.

James Chatfield

James joined Liquidnet in June 2011 with 14 years finance experience in the Australian, Indian and UK equity markets. As Head of Liquidnet Australia, James is responsible for growing the domestic and global member participation in the firm’s Australian trading venue. Prior to Liquidnet, James worked 10 years with Lazard Asset Management Pacific Co. where he was responsible for the firm’s equities trading in the Australian & Indian markets. James spent four years as a Portfolio Assistant in Lazard’s London office. He graduated from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Economics.

Dion Cooney

Dion Cooney is Head of Australian & US Sales for ITG Australia, based in Sydney. He is responsible for Australian sales operations and also co-ordinates Asia-wide client coverage for the firm's U.S. clients trading into the region. He has worked for ITG for over 10 years, including four years based in New York heading up the global portfolio sales and trading business. Prior to joining ITG he held equity trading roles at CIBC and L&C Baillieu in Sydney.

Stephen Davis

Steve is currently undertaking a consultancy role within the equities markets, offering advice across execution, electronic and portfolio trading.

Prior to this Steve has worked for both Morgan Stanley (3 years) and Credit Suisse (10 years) heading up the Electronic and Portfolio Trading Desks. The roles included Sales, Marketing, Trading, Management and Product Development. Previously Steve had also 10 years’ experience as a Trader working for McIntosh/Merrill Lynch.

Rohan Delilkhan

In Rohan's 20+ years of experience in the Financial Services Industry he has worked as a market economist in Hong Kong, an interest rate derivatives trader in London and Australia and has been with the ASX as a business development executive for the last seven years. Rohan is currently responsible for the business development aspect of the ASX's listed and OTC derivatives services, including overall responsibility for the delivery of the ASX OTC Interest Rate Derivatives clearing solution. Rohan’s business management role at the ASX has involved relationship management, new product development and project ownership for both internal and external solutions.

Michael Drake

Michael serves as Head of Asia for REDI Technologies, an independent technology company offering unique trading solutions globally and a fully broker-neutral product offering. He serves as the co-chair of FIX Trading Community’s APAC Education and Marketing Subcommittee. Previously, Michael worked at Goldman Sachs for seven years in its New York, Tokyo, and Hong Kong offices, focusing on execution sales, product development, and marketing for its electronic trading division. Michael holds a BBA from The University of Texas at Austin's Red McCombs School of Business.

Alan Dweck

Alan has over 25 years' experience in international financial markets, trading, business systems and associated technology. Alan was originally A trader and broker in London before spending 12 years at Bloomberg, where he helped build their successful FX trading and analytic platform: FXGO. Alan is the original inventor on 2 registered patents that relate to their FX trading platform. In recent years, Alan has led the strategy, sales, design, build and integration of several electronic trading platforms. Alan is currently the AsiaPac Head of OTC at TradingScreen.

Jon Evans

Jon Evans is the CEO of Abiding Capital, a Sydney based investment management company that runs funds in both the domestic and global markets. The firm's particular speciality is the Australian Smart Beta Fund, a product that is unique in the Australian equity space. Previously, Jon was in Tokyo as Managing Director and head of dealing at JP Morgan Asset Management (Japan) Ltd, where he served for 12 years. In this role, Jon was responsible for implementing FIX connectivity, he pioneered the use of algorithmic trading, dark pool access, TCA, international order routing and many other industry changing initiatives. Jon's career in institutional dealing began at BT Asset Management in Sydney where he was head of dealing for Asia. A founding member of the HK FIX committee, Jon is a frequent contributor to industry debates and has spoken at many conferences around the region.

John Fildes

John Fildes is Chief Executive Officer of Chi-X Australia, joining the organisation in April 2013. He brings extensive experience in stockbroking, investing, market development, market infrastructure and market platforms in Australia and Asia.

Mr. Fildes previous roles include Director of Strategic Development for Getco Asia and Managing Director and COO, Asia, of Instinet Pacific, where he oversaw regional operations for Instinet in Asia, including Japan. Before joining Instinet in 2006, John Fildes served at Morgan Stanley for 10 years in Hong Kong, where he held positions as the Head of Equity Marketing and Head of Electronic and Program Trading for Asia-Pacific.

Mr. Fildes has been closely involved with the development of the FIX Protocol in Asia Pacific and has served as Director of FIX Trading Community, and is a former Board Member of the Stockbrokers Association of Australia. Mr. Fildes is a member of the Australian FMRC Market Quality Advisory Panel and until recently was a member of the SGX Derivatives Committee in Singapore.

David Firmin

Instinet

David Firmin is head of Instinet's Global Trading Research group in Asia and is responsible for algorithmic trading product and development as well as pre-, real-time and post-trade analytics for the region. David joined Instinet in 2002 as part of their European algorithmic trading team. Before moving to Asia in early 2012, he held senior roles in the algorithmic and systematic trading groups of both Instinet New York and Instinet Europe specialising in the design and development of cash equity algorithmic trading strategies.

Prior to joining Instinet, David worked as a business and technical analyst in London and Frankfurt for Capco, a consulting firm specialising in the finance industry. David holds an MSci (Hons) degree in Chemistry having studied at the University of Bristol, UK and the University of Heidelberg, Germany.

James Hardcastle

James Hardcastle is Head of Sales for Fidessa in Australia where he has been based for the last 2 years. James joined Fidessa in 1998 as a Technical Consultant based in London and worked on projects for numerous tier-one investment banks across Europe. Prior to Sydney James was based at Fidessa's Tokyo office, where he lived for 11 years, and was most recently Head of International Sales there. In Japan James was an active member of the FIX Trading Community’s Education & Marketing committee and helped coordinate the bi-annual FIX conference. James has a BSc Honours degree in Computer Science & Business Studies from Anglia Ruskin University in the UK, and in his spare time enjoys running, cycling and travelling.

David Jenkins

David Jenkins is responsible for strategic and product marketing with Fidessa in Asia-Pacific, including market research and product strategy, influencing the direction of Fidessa products and services in the Asia-Pacific region.

David has over 20 years of experience in the Technology sector including over 10 years in the Financial Services industry, holding senior positions with firms such as Fidessa, FTEN, Apama and consulting to some of the leading names in the Financial Services and Insurance industries.

David has been based in Hong Kong for the past seven years, relocating previously from Melbourne, Australia, and has extensive experience in Asia Pacific region.

He has a Commerce degree from James Cook University in Australia.

Ian Jones, CFA

Ian Jones is responsible for electronic execution at Goldman Sachs in Australia. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Ian spent 6 years with ITG where he was responsible for analytics sales and research helping clients achieve best execution and a better understanding of the evolving market microstructure. Ian holds a BE Honours degree in Aerospace Engineering and BSc in Computer Science from UNSW and became a CFA charter holder in 2012.

Joe Kassel

Joe Kassel has over 23 years' experience trading in institutional financial markets both in Australia and globally.

Joe graduated from Sydney Uni in 1989 with a BA majoring in pure mathematics before commencing his first trading role for Barclays de Zoete Wedd as a futures floor trader in index futures and options on the Sydney Futures Exchange in 1990.

Joe moved to Bankers Trust Australia in 1992 as an institutional advisor in equities and equity derivatives and then to BT Funds Management in 1997 where he took responsibility for European, US and then Asian trading.

In 2002 Joe moved to the UK to take the role of Director and Head Trader for global equities for Principal Global Investors returning to Australia with Citigroup in 2007.

Joe's role at Citi was as a Director in the firm's market leading transition management team and in this role he was closely involved in many of the region's largest and most complex asset re-organizations.

Joe joined his current firm, AMP Capital Investors, in 2009 taking responsibility for global Toshin Fund trading and led the creation of the global dealing capability for AMP Capital's REIT and listed infrastructure joint venture with Brookfield.

Joe's current role with the firm is Head of Global Equities Dealing and Exposure Management.

Thomas S. Kingsley

Tom is Head of APAC Execution Consulting and Trading for Bloomberg Tradebook and is based in Singapore. Tom joined Tradebook in April of 2009 and has been focused on strengthening its relationships with its buy-side and sell-side partners in Asia as well as delivering our seamless 24/7 business model to the APAC region. Tom has more than 15 years of global trading experience on both the buy-side and sell-side. He joined Tradebook from Magna Securities, where he was Sr. VP of Asian Markets and head of the sales trading desk. Prior to Magna, Tom spent 11 years as Principal and Director of Trading at Simms Capital, a multi-billion dollar global equity fund. Tom holds a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Jason Lapping

Jason Lapping heads Dimensional's equity trading desk for Asia Pacific. His focus is on ensuring the firm's execution strategies and technological infrastructure region meet the highest standards in the region.

Originally from South Africa, Jason studied economics at the University of Cape Town, before moving to London to start his career in the financial sector.

Jason has been at Dimensional since 2010. He brings deep knowledge and experience of global markets, including in depth knowledge of Asia Pacific's unique market microstructure. Much of Jason's experience was garnered over 14 years working around the world with Societe Generale in their equities derivatives division and heading desks in London, Paris, Hong Kong and Sydney.

Reporting to Glenn Crane in Sydney, Jason works with a regional team of seven traders and is an integral part of an international trading network headed by the London-based John Romiza.

Edward Mangles

Mr. Edward Mangles is the founder and Publisher of GlobalTrading, the official publication of the FIX Trading Community. He has a long history within the financial technology sector and has worked closely with FIX Trading Community for a number of years. He has supported the organisation’s Asia Pacific committee for the past 10 years, playing a key role in promoting FIX adoption across the region. He has also worked for leading financial publishing and marketing firms in both London and Hong Kong. In March 09 Mr. Edward Mangles was appointed FIX Trading Community Asia Pacific Regional Director.

Stuart McWilliam

Stuart is the Head of Execution Services for Macquarie Securities Australia and is responsible for their dark pool, electronic execution and facilitation businesses in Australia. Prior to joining Macquarie Stuart spent 5 years in London, nearly 4 of those with ITG managing their electronic product suite in a fragmenting European market.

Murrough O'Brien

Murrough O'Brien is Head of Electronic Execution for Australia & New Zealand, based in Sydney. Murrough joined Citigroup London in 2006, before moving to Sydney in 2009 and has over 12 years' experience in the financial markets. Murrough's Electronic Execution responsibilities include DMA and Algo sales & trading, Connectivity, Market Microstructure analysis and Crossing Networks/Dark Pools. Murrough has also played an active role in market reform, working closely with both the buyside, sellside and local exchanges/regulators. Prior to joining Citigroup Sydney, Murrough worked in business and technical roles at JP Morgan, UBS, Nomura and HVB-Unicredit in both New York and London.

Yemi Oluwi

Yemi has over 15 years' experience in financial markets, specialising in electronic trading. Currently he is responsible for vendor management and solution analysis on a number of projects at the ASX involving FIX based trading applications. Roles prior include implementing electronic trading solutions for Deutsche Bank and UBS.

Braian Szwarcberg-Poch

Braian Szwarcberg-Poch is Managing Director of the Australian Business. Prior to joining GreySpark, Braian was a business development manager at Barclays Capital where he helped establish and distribute the firm's OTC client clearing offering across the UK and Europe.
