Sir Ranulph Fiennes OBE

“Success, Under Pressure”

‘The World’s Greatest Living Explorer’ will address FPL’s Asia Pacific Trading Summit 2012 delegates, sharing his hard earned insights into surviving and thriving in high pressure environments. Sir Ranulph Fiennes, our special keynote speaker, will relate how, we in the financial world, can draw analogies from his real-life experiences as a member of elite special forces, or as the first person to cross the Antarctic continent unsupported, or aged 65 summiting Everest, that illustrate what it takes to succeed in uncertain times.

FPL will host the 10th Asia Pacific Trading Summit in Hong Kong on 8th May, with over 500 market participants from across the region converging on Hong Kong. This flagship annual event will offer perspective on a decade of rapid growth and identify the key developments that are triggering major shifts in the industry landscape, as the region’s markets continue their respective structural, business and regulatory evolution.

The theme this year, "Under Pressure", is certainly timely, as the industry is under tremendous pressure to enhance profitability, drive technological innovation and cope with the evolution of diverse regulatory regimes in the region under an uncertain macroeconomic environment.
Across a full and interactive day, the group of leading speakers from both the global and regional stage, will examine the burning issues facing the different parts of the trade life cycle and will participate in lively, in-depth discussions to flesh out the hottest issues. The industry’s leading experts will also explore the different approaches that we can deploy in order to effectively ride the opportunities under the current challenging environment.

Adhering to the spirit of "Created by the industry, for the industry", 100% of the structure and content of FPL events are shaped and delivered by senior representatives of buy-side, sell- side or technology firms active in each region. The summit provides the region’s institutional trading industry with the only open and neutral environment for market participants, policy makers and regulators to interact and discuss issues and ideas. It is acclaimed as the region’s leading community/networking event of friends and colleagues, from the broadest cross-section of the industry, who all work, compete and face many of the same challenges here in Asia.
