The 4th Asia Pacific Electronic Trading Summit 2006 was successfully held on the 10th May at the Conrad Hotel. We welcomed over 360 attendees to the conference who represented all key segments of the financial market. The event attracted wide support from the industry and we hosted 15 sponsors and 14 Exhibitors representing the leading financial institutions and solution vendors.
The event bought together a broad range of speakers and panelists from Asia Pacific, Europe and the U.S. Attendees were animated about the quality content of the panel discussions that covered the views of buy side, brokers, vendors, exchanges and regulators. All the delegates agreed that the insights offered by the expert speakers on the various markets, including China, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong were very valuable.
The event generated a lot of participation from the audience. In addition to the very many questions from the crowd, the real-time interactive voting sessions catalyzed further debate amongst the speakers and panelists. Delegates also had the opportunity to cast their votes and tell us what they think on the key points raised. It should also be noted that the day was expertly 'moderated' by Bernard Lo of Bloomberg Live who kept speakers, panelists and delegates on their toes with his insightful questioning and light hearted quips.
The exhibition showcases proved very popular, with some booths even running out of brochures before lunch! The FPL branded conference backpacks and the USB Flash Disk Drives (pre-loaded with the conference speakers' PowerPoint presentations) were also very popular.
The summit ended with a poolside BBQ cocktail which was a huge success. Not only did it make for a great finale to the day's networking opportunities but also provided for delegates to meet up with the summit's speakers, panelists and other industry experts.
