Vikram Limaye

Mr. Vikram Limaye is the Managing Director and CEO of the National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE) which is the world’s second largest exchange in cash market trades and one of the top three exchanges in index and stock derivatives volumes.

Prior to joining NSE, he was the Managing Director & CEO of IDFC Limited, a diversified financial services conglomerate. He started his professional career with Arthur Andersen in Mumbai in 1987 while pursuing his Chartered Accountancy and worked in the audit and business advisory services groups of Arthur Andersen, Ernst & Young and the consumer banking group of Citibank before going to the US in 1994 to pursue a MBA. After completing his MBA, he worked on Wall Street in USA for 8 years with Credit Suisse First Boston in a variety of roles in investment banking, capital markets, structured finance and credit portfolio management before returning to Mumbai, India in 2004.

He has contributed to various committees of government and industry associations on a range of topics surrounding infrastructure, economic policy, markets, trade, minority affairs etc. He has been a speaker at various domestic and international conferences and has been part of international government delegations for infrastructure and foreign direct investments into India. He has also been on the boards of various corporates, educational institutions and not for profit organisations.

He completed his Bachelors in Commerce from HR College of Commerce & Economics, Chartered Accountancy and a MBA in Finance and Multinational Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, USA.

Sankarson Banerjee

Sankarson is the CTO-Projects for National Stock Exchange. Previously, he was Managing Director, Cloud and Mobility for Accenture. He has earlier been the group CIO of IIFL and held positions in the Future Group, Mphasis, TDA Capital Partners and IBM.

A graduate of IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta, Sankarson has spent 25 years in the industry, 15 of them in CXO roles. In the course of his career, Sankarson has implemented complex websites, trading applications, ERP and supply chain solutions. He has managed balance sheets, advised on technology strategies, founded companies, built teams, negotiated and implemented large contracts. He has managed nationwide IT setups with hundreds of offices, thousands of devices and millions of real time transactions.

An enthusiastic traveller, cyclist and runner, he has cycled the world over, the last big one being over the Himalayas from Manali to Leh.

Damian Bierman

Damian Bierman is Head of Asia-Pacific for FactSet's Portfolio Management & Trading business unit. He is responsible for its day-to-day operations and oversees the teams responsible for delivering the full suite of PMT products and services across the region, including Portware EMS. Damian joined Portware in 2007, opening the firm's office in Hong Kong and establishing its presence in the region.

Damian is an active member of the FIX Trading Community, currently serving as Co-Chair of the Asia-Pacific Technical Subcommittee. He has been a mainstay of the organization's Asia-Pacific presence for the past 14 years, playing an active role in promoting the adoption of FIX across the region.

Prior to Portware, Damian ran FIX Services in APAC for NYFIX, setting up its Hong Kong office in 2004. Damian joined Javelin Technologies in New York in 2000, implementing its Appia FIX engine technology at numerous buy- and sell-side institutions globally.

Previously, Damian held a research position at Carnegie Mellon Research Institute in Pittsburgh, PA, working on the DOT-funded Driver Drowsiness Detection & Countermeasures study, as well as a study of expert landmine detection skill for the US Army.

Damian received his B.S. in Cognitive Science from Carnegie Mellon University in May 1997.

Abhishek has over 8 years’ experience in Equity Trading Analytics and specializes in helping clients understand the source of their trading costs, how to reduce them and how they are impacted by the ever-changing market microstructure. Anshuman Das

Anshuman Das is the Chief Technology Officer for Edelweiss’ Treasury. This department does proprietary trading business that focusses on HFT and algorithmic trading in India and global venues across asset classes.

Prior to Edelweiss, he was with Citigroup, where he was instrumental in bringing the first global HFT players to NSE. He also led the India development team for low latency Global Market Access and was the global lead for unified cross asset pre-trade risk system. He is an MBA from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad and also holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

Kumar Goradia
Co-Chair, India Working Group, FIX Trading Community

Kumar Goradia till recently looked after business development and general operations of the Tower Research Capital group in India & the Middle East, and is currently on gardening leave from that role. Prior to Tower, he was the country markets technology manager at JP Morgan India. Kumar has also managed the equity, listed derivatives, and operations technology initiatives of Citigroup Global Markets in the country.

Earlier he looked after application technology, algorithmic trading, quantitative studies, and India access products for the Institutional business of MF Global India, as well as treasury technology at ICICI Bank. Kumar began his markets career at a private Indian brokerage, where at various points ran arbitrage trading, B2B franchise sales/solutions, clearing, risk management, compliance, and operations.

Kumar has served on the BSE's technology committee, and is currently the Co-Chair of the India Working Group, FIX Trading Community. Kumar has a B.E. from the University of Bombay, and an M.S. from Virginia Tech in the United States.

He comes with over 18 years of experience in ETFs. He was part of the founding team of Benchmark AMC which launched the first ETF in India in 2001 - Nifty Bees.

Vishal previously was part of the Index division of CRISIL from where he was deputed to NSE & was instrumental in setting up India’s first independent Index Company, IISL, which is the owner of the Nifty family and Indices today.

Nagendra Kumar

Nagendra Kumar – Chief Business Officer. In his current role, he is responsible for IFSC & NSE Commodities Business Development.

He has over 23 years of experience in the Exchange and Clearing Corporation space. He has been with NSE since 1995 and has experience in almost all the functions of the exchange ranging from operations, membership & listing activities, setting up of clearing house, handling physical delivery of settlements, product development etc.

In his earlier assignments with the Exchange, he was heading the business development function of all asset classes and was instrumental for bringing in global HFT / Algo firms to India.

He was also associated with NSCCL responsible for the clearing and settlement of all asset classes traded and reported at the exchange, conceptualization and implementation of various clearing and settlement solutions.

He had a successful career at BT Radianz and built and led Telstra’s Financial Services division. Matthew also holds long-term working relationships with some of the worlds’ largest financial institutions and within the high-frequency trading community.

Dipesh Shah

Mr. Dipesh Shah, Chief (GIFT IFSC) Gujarat International Finance Tec-City Co. Ltd. (GIFT). GIFT City is developing Domestic and International Financial Services hub in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Mr. Shah has over 18 years of professional experience in International Business, Project Development, Corporate Affairs, Corporate Law & Policy matters.

His most prominent achievement includes setting up and operationalizing India’s 1st Smart City and International Financial Services Centre (IFSC). He has been one of the founding member of GIFT City.

In last 10 years, during his tenure, GIFT City made substantial progress in getting recognition as India’s model Smart City, starting India’s first Multi Services SEZ and only approved International Financial Services Centre. He brought in the regulatory and business changes in the GIFT IFSC to bring in Banks (now transacting more than US$ 12 Billion), International Exchanges, inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India (now daily turnover > USD 1 bn) and Insurance & re-insurance companies for undertaking offshore transactions. He has developed various business structures for Financial Services & related businesses in Special Economic Zone.

Dipesh has been closely working with Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, Reserve Bank of India, Securities and Exchange Board of India, Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority of India to operationalize the IFSC and is part of task force under the Ministry for IFSC. Some of the major policy level work done by him in IFSC includes changes in Company Law for entities opening company in GIFT IFSC, competitive tax regime comparable to other International Financial Centres. He brought in a major change with the tie up with Singapore International Arbitration Centre & GIFT IFSC for effective dispute resolution for the financial centre.

He is now leading the efforts of GIFT IFSC for establishment of a Unified Regulator for IFSC, which has been approved by the Parliament recently.

He has negotiated and tied up various International Co-operations for GIFT IFSC covering various jurisdiction namely Singapore, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Mauritius, New York, London. He is leading the GIFT IFSC efforts for tie up with Global exchanges and participation of Foreign institutions in GIFT.

Mr. Shah is a Bachelor of Commerce and is Chartered Secretary from Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) & Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators, UK and has Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDM – MBA) from Nirma University, India with specialization in International Business & Finance. He has lead a number of AI projects, including one for Indian Defense (DRDO). He holds a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering. He is also an expert in Financial Engineering and Risk Management.

Rip Sohan is a member of the CTO group at Solarflare Communications whose focus lies in identifying and leveraging new research and technology in the networking field for the purposes of improving Solarflare's products. He has over 15 years of academic and industrial experience in system and networks optimization, having previously headed a research group focusing on Data and Computational Provenance at the University of Cambridge. He holds a Ph.D in Operating System Support for Low-latency from the University of Cambridge.

Upon graduation from college in Ireland as Electronic Engineer, joined Fujitsu Japan in 1990 as a software engineer. Between 1994 and 2006, involved in system development, design, implementation, operation and support projects at Japanese and Asia Pacific security firms and banks in the areas of market data, treasury risk management and automated FX trading. From 2007 to 2010 was Representative Director of NYSE Technologies in Japan. From 2011 to 2016 was Representative Director of Interactive Data/ICE Data Services Japan. Joined Metamako as Business Development Director, Asia Pacific in September 2016.
