He has been Co-Founder and Global Head of Strategy at FXMarketSpace, the world’s first centrally cleared “FX Exchange” and ran the Asia Pacific business from Hong Kong. He is the inventor of “FXSettle” an innovative and award winning global FX settlement solution.

Mr. Anand joined from Reuters where he was Global Head of Treasury Services, managing a US$ 2 billion business spread over 100 countries. He also served as a member of the Reuters Innovation and Venture Board. At Thomson Reuters he served across Asia, Europe, USA and Global Emerging Markets.

Mr. Anand has 18 years experience in financial services including 4 years at Standard Chartered and HSBC. He has been a speaker at Industry conferences across North and South America, UK, Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific.

Mr. Anand has a passion for education and has co-founded Universal Business School to bring world class business education to India.


Ravi Apte

Ravi has the unique experience of being both a successful entrepreneur in the software industry as well as a global technology executive of large financial corporations. Ravi is currently the Chief Technology Officer with the National Stock Exchange in Mumbai.

Prior to joining the NSE, Ravi was a Partner with BlueFirma, Inc. a consulting firm specializing in Information Technology Management, Strategy and Governance. Ravi was also the Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President with the American Stock Exchange (Amex) where he was responsible for all aspects of IT management. He served on the board of SIAC, a joint venture between the Amex and the NYSE, and a leading provider of technology solutions to the securities industry.

Prior to joining Amex, Ravi worked with Citibank in various senior technology management positions with the Global Corporate Bank in Hong Kong, Singapore and New York, with teams spread across Asia Pacific, Europe, US and Latin America.

As an entrepreneur, he also started and managed two extremely successful software companies for Citibank in India.


Ritesh Badai

Ritesh is responsible for trading Indian equities SBI Life Insurance, one of the largest private insurers in India.

Prior to joining SBI Life 2 years ago, he has worked with Morgan Stanley India and Hong Kong managing equity dealing. He has been dealing in Indian equity markets since 2004.


Rajesh Dharamshi

Rajesh Dharamshi, a Chartered Accountant, began his career as Floor Trader on BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) in 1994 for an Institutional Broker and became Chief Executive. In 2001, he joined Refco (now Man Financial) as Institutional Sales and Trading Executive for equities and derivatives. In 2003, he joined Motilal Oswal as VP - Head of new Institutional derivative desk. In its first year Motilal Oswal has become one of the five leading derivatives players in Indian market with 10% Market Share in the Institutional segment. Since 2005 he has been responsible for institutional (Cash + Derivative) trading desk. Over the last 16 years he has witnessed the growth of Indian market from floor trading to DMA; from physical settlement to electronic; from the Badla & carry forward system to an effective forward market and to futures & options.


Zoltan Feledy

Zoltan Feledy is an Equity Trader at State Street Global Advisors where he is responsible for best execution in Asia’s Emerging Markets. He is the co-chair of FPL’s Asia Pacific Regional Committee where he is actively involved in the management of the organization. Previously, he was a member of FPL's Algorithmic Trading Working Group where he helped with the development of FIXatdl (FIX Algorithmic Trading Definition Language) an XML based language used to define algorithmic trading parameters.


John Fildes

E. John Fildes is Director of Strategic Development for GETCO Asia, where he is responsible for relationships with exchanges, regulators and market participants across the region as well as driving the company’s high-frequency trading and market-making strategies in Asian markets.

Previously he was Managing Director and COO, Asia, of Instinet Pacific, responsible for all the operations of Instinet in Asia including Japan. Prior to joining Instinet in 2006 he was with Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong for 10 years where he held positions as the Head of Equity Marketing and Head of Electronic and Program Trading for Asia-Pacific. Before that he was the Head of MSCI for Asia Pacific and was actively involved in the launch of MSCI futures contracts for Taiwan and Singapore on SIMEX. He is the Co-Chair FPL Asia Pacific Regional Committee, and former Board Member of the Stockbrokers Association of Australia.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley Mr. Fildes held various positions in Europe with the Financial Times, Standard and Poor¹s and Reuters.

Mr. Fildes studied Law at the University of Liverpool.


J N Gupta

Mr. Jitendra Nath Gupta is the Executive Director of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), where he is heading the 'Market Regulation Department' 'Integrated Surveillance Department' and 'Derivatives and New Products Department'. He is a member of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO)'s 'Standing Committee on Secondary Market', International Standards Organisation (ISO)'s 'Association of National Numbering Agencies' (ANNA) and Member of the Steering Group of IOSCO-CPSS, on updation and strengthening the standards for all payments and settlement system.

Mr. Gupta has over 30 years of experience which include several positions in the fields of Finance and Banking/International Trading/Shipping and commercial functions including risk management/ foreign exchange/ securities market / regulatory / manufacturing/ marketing/ engineering.

Mr. Gupta has a Bachelors Degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He is a Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) from the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India, a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB) and Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) from ICC Paris.


Anshuman Jaswal

Anshuman Jaswal is a Senior Analyst in Celent's Securities and Investments group and is based in the India office. His expertise lies in electronic trading, market infrastructure, market regulation, derivatives, brokerages, bond trading, hedge funds, and commodity markets.

Mr. Jaswal has been quoted regularly in the media, including CNBC, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Reuters, Associated Press, Bloomberg, Forbes, BusinessWeek, International Herald Tribune, Economic Times, Business Standard, The Hindu Business Line, Financial Express, Outlook and Hedgeweek.

Prior to joining Celent, Mr. Jaswal has worked in Insurance (ICICI Prudential), Research (AC Nielsen), Banking (Axis Bank), and has also been an entrepreneur. He has a Ph.D. in Economics from IIM Ahmedabad, India’s premier B-School. His thesis work was on Commodity Markets. He also has an MBA (Finance) from NMIMS and B.Sc. Economics (Honours), from SOAS, University of London, specializing in Economics of Japan and China.


Anant Jatia

Anant is a Co-Founder and Director of Forefront Capital Management, a leading quantitative investment manager in India managing discretionary and advisory mandates for institutions and high net worth individuals.

Prior to co-founding Forefront Capital Management, Anant was a portfolio manager at AQR Capital Management, a twenty billion dollar quantitative asset management firm in Greenwich (Connecticut), USA. As a member of the Global Stock Selection team, Anant researched and built systematic stock selection and sector selection models for developed and emerging equity markets. He created and successfully traded new global strategies based on stock loan and short interest information, as well as dividend signaling strategies in Europe. He also managed and traded multi-billion dollar long-short, relaxed constraints, and long-only equity portfolios across developed and emerging markets.

Anant graduated cum laude from the Management and Technology Program at the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania) with a B.S. in Economics (Finance, Management) and a B.S.E in Computer Engineering.


Vikram Kotak

Mr. Vikram Kotak is the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Birla Sun Life Insurance. He joined the organization in December 2005 as Head-Investments and in July 2007 he moved up to his current designation. The assets managed by him are over $4.25 Billion in debt and equity segments.

Mr. Kotak is a Chartered Accountant and has experience of over 16 years in Debt & Equity Markets & Corporate Finance.

He is a member of the Capital Market committee of Indian Merchant Chambers and Bombay Chamber of Commerce (BCC). In addition, he is also the Co- Chairman of Insurance and Pension committee of BCC. He has also been a member of the Working Group Committee on Investments formed by IRDA.

Recently he was awarded the ‘Exceptional Contributor Award’ during the Annual Aditya Birla Group’s Chairman’s Award Function. In addition, he has been honored as guest faculty at many national and international conferences and events and is a frequent writer of guest columns for various leading financial publications.

Prior to joining BSLI, Mr. Kotak was with the Techno Group as President - Equity Business for two years. Before Techno, Mr. Kotak was Head – Fixed Income Business with Birla Sun Life Securities Limited (BSSL). Mr. Kotak had joined BSSL in July’97 in Debt Market Group, in the Institution Broking Team. In June’00, he was elevated as Head of Fixed Income Business.

Mr. Kotak has also served as a Member for Debt Market Committee of Bombay Stock Exchange for the period 2002-03 & 2003-04. He has been a part of the Task force formed by SEBI for retailing of Government Securities. He was also a part of the Managing Committee of FIBA (Fixed Income Brokers’ Association) for two years. (2002-2004).


R Nanda Kumar

R Nanda Kumar has around 23 years of experience in Securities & Capital Market Industry. In National Stock Exchange, over 15 years in the areas of trading, clearing and settlement, new product development, business development, international relations etc. Closely associated with the setting up and operating of a central counterparty mechanism in India, dematerialized settlement mechanism in Indian markets, introduction of new products and applications across the debt, equity and derivatives markets.

Prior to NSE, worked in the general insurance industry and the mutual funds industry, with a role that was involved in business process management/engineering and computerization, with a key focus of service to customer.

Current designation at the NSE – Senior Vice President. Role is to provide guidance to the teams in new frontiers across the spectrum of front office solutions, clearing & settlement, risk management, surveillance; scanning the landscape for new products and services to the market participants and making the same available; representing NSE at various domestic and international meets WFE, AOSEF, ACG etc.; and spearheading international relations with exchanges/clearing corporations for sharing and implementing state of the art solutions for other exchanges/clearing corporations.


Latika S Kundu
Head - Market Operations
MCX Stock Exchange

Ms. Latika S Kundu comes with over 15 years of professional experience in the Capital Markets. She has been instrumental in conceptualizing and implementing models for creating healthier market practices for market participants in the spot and derivatives segments of the Equity & Currency Markets.

In her present role, she heads the Market Operations of MCX Stock Exchange, wherein her focus is across the Trading platform, Surveillance, Risk Management and Investigations. She has been involved in setting up of the exchange and mentoring the team since inception and is known for her pro-activeness and deep rooted knowledge and understanding of the Securities Market.

She has been nominated as the Expert Committee Member of the Capital Market Committee of the Bombay Chambers of Commerce & Industry (BCCI). She has participated in various elite forums, seminars and groups and also represented for work related to government, regulator and global alliances. She has represented the Exchange on various panels such as in FIX Global events on Exchange Business & Technology; and in Trade Tech India 2010 for ‘Exchange Panel discussion - Innovation, Transparency & Co-operation. How can Exchanges facilitate more efficient trading in India?’. She has contributed to the handbook on ‘Indian Financial Market Reforms’ published by the Futures of Financial Markets (FOFM) forum, in which she has been recognized as a ‘Thought Leader’. She is the editor of MCX-SX quarterly journal ‘Market Update’, which brings out a smooth connect between the macro & micro view of the financial markets.

Prior to Ms. Kundu’s association with MCX Stock Exchange, she worked with National Stock Exchange India Ltd. for 11 years and was also the Head of Equity Compliance at Lehman Brothers.

Ms. Kundu takes avid interest in the functioning of exchanges and regulators all over the world. She incorporates the best practices observed by her during her visits to various stock exchanges and regulators across the US and Europe, such as US SEC, NYSE, NASDAQ, Euronext (Paris and Amsterdam), MEFF and AMF, in the Indian Capital Market. Ms. Kundu is a commerce graduate with Masters in Business Administration. She is also an Associate Computer Professional (ICCP-USA) from BITS and a Six Sigma - Green Belt holder.


Robert K. Laible
Managing Director, Global Co-Head, Electronic Trading & QPS Sales

Rob is a Managing Director and the Global Co-Head of Electronic Trading & QPS Sales for Nomura. Rob’s team is responsible for selling Nomura’s program trading and ultra low latency trading capabilities in Asia and also developing the Firm’s DMA infrastructure, trading tools, dark pools, market connectivity, smart order routing, algorithms, and analytics. Product expertise includes: ModelEx, NX, SmartDMA and TradeSpex.

Prior to joining Nomura, Rob was head of Lehman Brothers’ Prime Services Origination in Asia, based in Hong Kong. While in NY, Rob was a senior member of the Equity Liquid Markets Sales force, where he ran a team focusing on Cash & Program Trading, Futures, Options, ETFs, Swaps, Risk Arbitrage, Index Changes and Derivative Related Research. Rob joined Lehman Brothers in 1998 as US Agency Program Trading Product Manager. In this role he developed a comprehensive electronic trading platform which incorporated client connectivity, quantitative research, “smart” trading strategies, access to multiple sources of liquidity and efficient operations and settlement. He was also responsible for the sales and marketing effort for program trading. He subsequently became Global Program Trading Product Manager, and focused on rewriting the common technology that supports each of the regional headquarters.

Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, Rob was Executive Vice President and Head of Sales and Trading at Investment Technology Group (“ITG”), an agency brokerage and technology firm. Rob joined ITG in 1987 as one of its first employees. During his eleven-year tenure, he helped develop the firm’s range of advanced trading technologies, including POSIT, and helped drive their expansion into the agency brokerage business. He served as a member of ITG’s Executive Committee.

Rob received a BA in Economics from Amherst College and an MBA in Finance from the NYU Graduate School of Business Administration (Stern).


Greg Lee

Greg Lee is Head of the Deutsche Bank Autobahn Equity trading group for the Asian region. Deutsche Bank Autobahn Equity is the Bank's Direct Market Access and Algorithmic trading platform.

Greg started his career at Tibco before moving to Reuters and UBS and has built, deployed and managed trading systems in Australia, New Zealand, United States, Switzerland, Japan, India, Thailand and Hong Kong.


Suresh A Mahadevan
Head of India Equities

Suresh is Managing Director and Head of India Equities, and also India strategist. He covers the Indian telecoms sector. Prior to assuming his current role, Suresh was co-Head of Asia Telecom Research from October 2006 to May 2008. Before joining UBS, Suresh headed Asia telecoms research at ABN Amro and was part of Lehman Brothers’ Asia telecoms team. Suresh first worked at Peregrine Capital in India as a prop trader. He was then at Bloomberg, initially setting up the Indian sub-continent business, then heading regional transaction product sales. He holds an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School, a post-graduate degree in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering from Kerala University.


Arbind Maheswari

Arbind Maheswari is a senior equities sales trader with DSP Merrill Lynch with 11 years of experience in the business. He has also been a pioneer for developing the electronic business for DSPML in India and instrumental in bringing one of the first electronic platform access in the country. Prior to joining DSPML, he did his MBA from IIM Bangalore.


Dewang Neralla

Dewang Neralla, co-founder and Director - Technology, is the technology strategist of the Financial Technologies Group. He has been instrumental in establishing a strong, global product portfolio, having laid down the technology infrastructure that has today become the growth driver for various divisions and subsidiaries of the FT Group.

Dewang has been instrumental in setting up a robust, reliable technology and trading platform for the exchange ventures of the FT Group. He continues to play a strategic role in identifying and implementing the architectural and product strategies and plans for the company’s technology business. In addition, he defines the technology road map of the entire organization and drives the strategy and vision behind the company’s software products, the architecture, and all related standards for Financial Technologies’ products, solutions, and services.

Dewang is responsible for introducing new technology architecture and designing components and protocols to deliver cutting-edge technology. In addition to his role as the Director for Technology, Dewang looks after emerging technology applications in the financial markets, market opportunities, and strategic partnerships for the Group on an on-going basis. He is passionate about technology and firmly believes that innovations and inventions are the key to future technological breakthroughs for the group. His current interest lies is in taking up the challenge of working on mobile-based payment solutions that will replace credit card-based payments and currently he is focused on ensuring that this concept is brought to fruition, not just technologically, but also as a strong business proposition through a reduction in cost of a credit transaction.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science and has been a featured speaker at several national and international academic, business, and technology forums as well as at industry events.


Srinivas Padmasola

Societe Generale

Srinivas Padmasola recently joined Societe Generale in Hong Kong to lead sales of Societe Generale's QES product for the Asia Pac Region.

Srinivas joined Societe Generale from Bank of America Merrill Lynch where he occupied a similar role from 2001 to 2010.

Srinivas has been involved with FPL for over 10 years and has spent the last 5 years as co-chair of the Asia Pac Education & Marketing sub-committee.


Anant Pandit

Anant is Director of Omnesys Technologies Pvt Ltd. and is responsible for strategy and partnerships. Prior to founding Omnesys, Anant held a senior level management position at Infosys where he was responsible for the company's relationship with financial sector clients.

PS Praveen, known as Praveen, is Country Manager for India for TNS and is based in the city of Chennai, India.

He joined the company in 2006, taking on responsibility the development of TNS’ business throughout India, overseeing the expansion of its networks, operations and sales activities.

Praveen has played a key part in establishing TNS’ financial services division business across the Asia Pacific region, boosting the number of buy and sell side institutions, market data and software vendors and exchanges, that are connected to TNS’ extensive community of interest. He is a member of FPL-India committee.
Prior to joining TNS, Praveen worked as a Group Manager at Usha Communications Technology, where he expanded his knowledge in the Indian markets, including the Banking and Financial Sector, Telecoms Software and the Capital Goods Industry.

Since 2006, Praveen has helped clients connect with global markets via TNS’ proprietary IP network, the Secure Trading Extranet. Supporting the ability to connect financial market participants across many countries has enabled clients to extend their global reach and enter new markets within India and outside their borders.

Praveen holds a Master of Business Administration in Marketing and Systems with a mechanical Engineering Degree from Anna University, located in the city of Madras, Chennai.

In his spare time, Praveen enjoys spending time with his family and often participates in his local Rotary Club in Chennai. He lives in Chennai with his wife Sayee Priya and their two children Kaayva Varsha and Nimisha Praveen.


Rajeev Saptarshi

Rajeev Saptarshi is the Chief Operating Officer of Kotak Institutional Equities and has been with the Kotak Group for close to 16 years with exposure to multiple financial services business within the group. He is responsible for Kotak Institutional Equities Operations, Technology and Finance functions and has overseen the transition of the firm from manual to Electronic Trading/DMA and Algorithmic platforms.

Rajeev is a Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary by qualification.


Sanjiv Shah

He is B. Com., Master of Management Studies from Mumbai University and M. Sc. (Economics) in International Accounting and Finance from London School of Economics. He has obtained an FRM certification from Global Association of Risk Professionals. He has over 18 years of experience in the Capital Markets. He has worked with DSP Merrill Lynch Ltd., Mumbai for 14 years. During his tenure in DSP Merrill Lynch, he was Head of Debt Sales & Trading and Head of Equity Sales to FIIs. His last assignment was as Head of Derivatives. He has been involved in various committees and seminars to look into better functioning of the markets. He has been working with AMC since April 2001.


Jim Shapiro
Head of Market Development

Jim joined the BSE in July 2009. He is a member of the exchange’s management committee and responsible for managing several functions of the exchange including strategy, market data, index products and the exchange’s international and investor relations.

Prior to joining the BSE, Jim worked as Senior Managing Director of Galileo Global Advisors, and at the New York Stock Exchange in various senior management positions in research, strategic planning and international business development.

Jim holds a B.A. from Harvard College and M.A. and M. Phil. degrees in economics from Yale University. He serves on the Board of Directors of CDSL, the BSE subsidiary which is one of India’s two central securities depositaries.


Ian Smith
Head of Electronic Execution Product, Asia Pacific

Ian Smith is head of Electronic Execution product for Citi in Asia. Prior to this he spent 10 years with Credit Suisse and was instrumental in building their electronic trading platform (AES). He started in London as the system architect and lead strategy designer, became the European head of product in 2005 and spent the last 2 years as head of their AES product and trading for Asia, based in Hong Kong.

Ian holds a bachelors degree in Economics and a Masters in International Economics.


Balaji Vaidyanath N

Balaji is currently the portfolio manager for the PMS division of Sundaram Asset Management Company. Prior to that, he was with the research team of Sundaram Mutual Fund as an analyst covering Healthcare, Financials, FMCG, Retail and Media. He has over 8 years of experience in Indian equity markets. Currently he manages around US $ 30 million of equity assets encompassing both discretionary and advisory mandates.
